Getting started
How do I start sending invoices?
Sign up with your business name, email, and a password. Once you're in, go to Settings and connect a Stripe account — that's what lets your customers' payments land straight in your own bank account. Then head to "New invoice" to send your first one.
Why can't my customers pay yet?
You'll see a banner on the dashboard until your Stripe account is fully connected. Go to Settings → "Connect with Stripe" and finish the short onboarding form Stripe shows you (business details, bank account). It only needs doing once.
Invoices
Can I add more than one line item?
Yes — when creating or editing an invoice, use "+ Add line item" for as many as you need (labour, parts, callout fee, etc.). GST is calculated on the combined subtotal.
Can I edit or delete an invoice after sending it?
Yes, as long as it hasn't been paid yet — open the invoice and use Edit or Delete. Once a customer has paid, the invoice is locked as an accurate record and can't be changed or removed.
A customer says they never got the invoice email — what do I do?
Open the invoice and use "Resend invoice" to send it again. Also worth asking them to check spam/junk folders.
What does "Overdue" mean?
Any unpaid invoice past its due date shows as Overdue instead of Awaiting payment, on your dashboard, the invoice page, and the customer's pay page.
GST
I'm not registered for GST — how do I stop it being added?
Go to Settings and switch off "GST registered." Every invoice you send after that will show just the line-item total with no GST added.
Is the GST calculation official tax advice?
No — it's a convenience calculation at the standard 15% NZ rate, not a substitute for advice from an accountant or IRD guidance for your specific situation.
Payments & fees
How much does PayMint cost?
1% of each invoice your customer actually pays — nothing else. No monthly fee, no setup cost, and nothing at all if you don't send any invoices.
How long until the money reaches my bank account?
Payments go through Stripe directly to your connected bank account, following Stripe's standard payout schedule (typically within a couple of business days).
